Bone knitting powders

I bought a old magazine called 'inside kung fu'. It contains several advertisements of martial arts books etc. The pictorials are funny but it enlivens my mind to practise many techniques. I came across a page heading - bone knitting powders. Its written that the powders taken in grams can nourish liver and kidney. And strengthens sinews and bones. Like dang gui(radix angelicae sinensis), chuan xiong, etc. So are there any alternative herbal tonics which gives the same effects as chinese medicines?
